17 Foods That Can Cause Fatigue (+Healthy Alternatives!)

Do you suffer from exhaustion, know that there are foods that can cause fatigue, but find yourself trying to make sense of which foods to eat and which to stay away from?

Don’t feel bad! The amount of diet and nutrition advice out there is crazy!!

Should you follow the Keto diet? Or maybe AIP? GAPS? Or just focus on eating real, whole food?


Here’s a little secret- the best diet is not necessarily the same for everyone.


If you have fatigue (or any other health issue) it is essential to feed your body the foods that it needs in order to nourish, heal, and repair.

And figuring out which foods are best for you can be a little bit of a journey.

Why is that, you ask?

Because we are told through commercials, advertisements, and even healthcare professionals what makes up healthy food choices.

But much of what we’re told is wrong.

The information and advice that we are typically given can cause inflammation, leaky gut, yeast overgrowth, fatigue, and a number of other health conditions.

Many of the recommended foods are devoid of nutrients, contain a lot of sugar, are ultra-processed, full of artificial colors and sweeteners, and loaded with chemicals.


Now, I can’t tell you exactly which diet or eating plan is perfect for you, but I can give some general advice that could serve as a great starting point.

In this episode, I list 17 foods that can cause fatigue.

But, don’t get overwhelmed!

If you are just starting to change your diet, choose one thing to eliminate and once you’ve found acceptable substitutions (I give a few ideas that might help!), then you can move on to the next food.

Before you know it, you’ll be healthier, happier, and your diet will be free from the foods that cause fatigue!
