It is well known that salt has been an essential part of life for as long as people have been on this Earth.

But did you know that when consumed in the right quantities, natural salt (aka sodium chloride) can help to regulate blood pressure, increase energy, decrease symptoms of adrenal fatigue, and provide other benefits?

It’s true!

Sole water is one of the first natural remedies I tried on my journey to adrenal fatigue recovery and it helped a lot!

Many are cautious of salt because we have been told that too much could increase blood pressure or cause other health problems.

But what we weren’t told is that the human body needs small amounts of salt and there is a vast difference between Himalayan salt and regular table salt (which is typically heavily processed, bleached, and stripped of most of its essential minerals and nutritional value).

Unlike ordinary table salt or white salt, Himalayan salt is unrefined, meaning it has higher mineral content.

Along with a diet rich in whole foods, adding mineral-rich unrefined sea salt in the form of sole water can aid the body in overall health and wellness.

What Is Sole Water?

Sole water is a mixture of pink Himalayan salt and plain water.

That’s it!

If you’re looking for the best way to enjoy this natural mineral water, you just need to put water in a glass jar (a mason jar works perfectly for this!), add some pink Himalayan salt, and allow the solution to sit for at least 24 hours.

After that time, the water will be saturated enough (meaning no more salt will dissolve) and you can use it right away.

This saltwater beverage contains more than 80 active minerals and elements, as well as trace minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium.

The minerals present in Himalayan salt are what make it a healthier choice and many report significant positive changes after a short time.

Sole Water’s Reported Health Benefits

You’ve probably heard that using excessive salt can be harmful to your body.

So, the idea of drinking this concentrated salt solution may appear counterproductive.

However, Himalayan salt is not like ordinary table salt.

It’s unrefined, mineral-rich, and doesn’t contain any additives.

Therefore, if you drink small quantities of sole water on a daily basis you could enjoy a wide range of health benefits.

Not convinced yet? That’s ok!

Here are some of the benefits of drinking sole water:

Helps Hydration

Sodium is a vital element when it comes to maintaining optimal fluid balance in the body.
So, failure to hydrate properly can lead to water loss, which will, in turn, lead to dehydration –
especially if you work out frequently.

When you sweat, your body will lose vital minerals or electrolytes.

And this is where sole water comes in.

When you drink salt-saturated water, it will replace the lost minerals in a way that ordinary water cannot and help maintain optimal electrolyte balance.

Apart from helping with hydration, this mixture can also nourish and moisturize your skin.

Chromium, iodine, zinc, and other minerals present in Himalayan salt are known for their skin-boosting
properties.

It can also help to prevent acne, heal infections and give you clearer skin that glows.

Improves Sleep

If you have been struggling with getting enough sleep, then you should consider adding sole water.

Many claim that it is a great remedy for insomnia.

According to recent studies, low sodium intake can lead to poor quality of sleep.

And since it is believed that Himalayan salt contains less sodium than regular table salt, drinking a little saltwater every day can give your body the sodium and other minerals it needs, which could lead to better sleep.

Enhance Digestive Health

It has been said that sole water can stimulate the production of hydrochloric acid as well as other enzymes required to break down food.

As a result, it can help the intestines and the liver to perform their duties, thus leading to better and easier food absorption.

Also, some people believe that salty beverages can stimulate salivary glands, which will help in breaking food down as well as better absorption.

Lower Blood Pressure

While salt is normally associated with high blood pressure, drinking sole water can actually do the opposite for some people.

The high concentration of minerals in pink Himalayan salt can help to lower high blood pressure.

While everyone has different health needs, the quality of salt that you consume can make all the difference.

For instance, table salt contains a high concentration of sodium, which can lead to a spike in blood pressure.

Sole water, on the other hand, contains a lower concentration of sodium plus other necessary minerals that work together, which can help to maintain optimal blood pressure.

Alleviates Muscle Cramps

As noted earlier, pink Himalayan salt contains magnesium and potassium.

When you drink Himalayan saltwater regularly, the magnesium present in this salt solution will be absorbed, thus helping to soothe sore and cramped muscles.

Potassium can also help to alleviate muscle soreness.

So, if you are a yogi or work out regularly, incorporating sole water into your routine can help to combat soreness and muscle cramps, which could promote faster recovery.

Detoxifies The Body

The pink Himalayan salt used to make sole water is filled with electrolytes.

And as you probably know, electrolytes are powerful detoxifying agents for the body.

Also, sole water contains natural anti-bacterial properties, which can help to remove harmful bacteria from your body.

How to Make Sole Water

While you can purchase electrolyte drink mixes from various stores, making your own sole water at home is so easy and convenient!

One benefit of making your own is that you can prepare as much or as little as you want, depending on your needs.

Also, you are in charge of the entire preparation process, meaning you will get to control the concentration levels.

And, like I mentioned, making sole water is super simple!

You will just need a glass container, Himalayan salt, and clean, filtered water.

Here are the easy steps to follow when making salt water sole:

  1. Add pink Himalayan salt to a glass mason jar until its quarter ¼ of the way full.
  2. Add filtered water to the jar but be sure to leave at least an inch at the top.
The space that you leave at the top will help to prevent water from overflowing, in case you need to add
    some more salt.
  3. Put on the lid to your mason jar, tighten it, and then shake the jar gently.

(* Make sure that you use a non-metal lid as salt can rust metal!)

Leave the solution to sit for at least a day.

If you can see some salt at the bottom of the jar, then it means that the solution is concentrated enough, and it’s now ready for drinking.

On the other hand, if all the salt dissolved in the water, then you should add a little more to the water, and then let the solution sit overnight again.

If the salt is no longer dissolving, that’s a sign that your sole water is fully saturated and it’s ready to drink.

A general recommendation is to add a tablespoon of the Himalayan saltwater solution to 8 ounces of water. (But feel free to adjust this according to your needs or health care practitioner’s advice).

You can then drink the water in the morning or whenever it is convenient.

In short, how you choose to drink the sole water will depend on your needs and preferences.
