Behold! Baked french toast!!
This is by far one of my most favorite recipes 🙂
Healthy Baked French Toast- A New Family Favorite!
If you’re wondering why I love this recipe, there are a few reasons.
Here they are, in no particular order 🙂
No Bread Goes To Waste
I love homemade bread, but to be honest, I am not in a season of life where making bread every week is possible.
One of the problems with buying bread (at least in my house) is that my kids don’t like the end pieces. And I hate wasting them.
To solve that problem, I save all of the end pieces, put them in the freezer, and when I get about 12-15 pieces, I can use them up and make this delicious baked french toast!
It’s Sooo Easy To Make
I’m not exaggerating even a little.
This recipe is easier (and less messy) than regular french toast and I can make it the night before so all we have to do in the morning is reheat, eat, and be on our way!
If I know we have a busy morning, this is the recipe I make!
Baked French Toast Is Easily Customizable
Do you need to stay away from gluten or dairy?
No problem!
This recipe works great with gluten-free bread and you can use water in place of milk.

Favorite Options
When making this recipe I don’t usually add any sweetener because my family will add honey, maple syrup, or other toppings when it’s time to eat.
You can definitely add a sweetener if you prefer though!
Tasty Additions
If you want to change up the flavor, here are a few of our favorite additions or toppings
- Raisins– these can be added before or after baking
- Honey– this can also be added before baking or drizzled on as a topping
- Maple Syrup– just like honey, this can be mixed in before baking or added as a topping
- Bananas– a favorite fruit topping
- Peanut Butter– can be mixed in or smeared on top (you could use any nut butter)
- Sausage– add sausage pieces or crumbles before baking and after it’s done add the topping of your choice (or none at all!)
