Easy & Healthy Snowman Cheese Ball

Are you looking for a cute appetizer or snack for your holiday party that is easy to make and everyone will love? This snowman cheese ball is just what you need!

My daughter actually made this for our Christmas day get together. A friend sent it to us in the mail and we knew with a few tweaks it would be the perfect snack for family and friends while we played games and had some Christmas fun.

I wasn’t sure if the snowman cheese ball would be well-liked or not but I can tell you now that it will definitely be on the list of Christmas snacks next year!

The only problem is that we all ate way too much of it and then had no room for dinner! Maybe we’ll make a smaller version next year….(or invite more people!)

Oh! And if you’re staying away from gluten, grains, eggs, or nuts, this recipe is perfect for you ๐Ÿ™‚

A Healthier Snowman Cheese Ball

I mentioned that a friend sent us this recipe, and I’m so glad she did. But, in our house, we often need to change a recipe to fit dietary needs or to make the recipe just a little healthier.

Changing recipes is sometimes easy, and sometimes not. There have been many times that we “wing it” and see what happens.

Some of our favorite recipes have happened this way and I am happy to say that this is one of them.

Ready to make this cute little snack?

Here’s everything you need to make a cute snowman cheese ball, including a printable recipe at the end!

Ingredients Needed

To make this recipe healthier be sure to choose organic ingredients. If you can find a local source that’s even better!

  • 3 packages of cream cheese (8 oz. each)
  • 4 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup of finely diced onion
  • 2 tsp. of yellow mustard
  • 1-1 1/2 Tbsp. of hot sauce
  • 1 container of whipped cream cheese (or whip your own)

Depending on your decorating preferences you may also need raisins or olives for the eyes and buttons, a carrot piece for the nose, and something for arms (we used gluten-free pretzel sticks).

You will also want crackers or veggies to go along with your cheese ball!

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients together except for the whipped cream cheese (mixing with hands seems to be the easiest).
  2. Divide cheese mixture into three equal parts and form into ball shape
  3. Stack cheese balls, press down a little to make sure they stay together
  4. Cover and refrigerate until just before serving
  5. When you’re ready to serve, remove from refrigerator and cover with whipped cream cheese (almost like frosting a cake)
  6. Decorate with raisins or olives, pretzels, and don’t forget the carrot for the nose!
  7. Serve with crackers, veggies, or pretzels and enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s all it takes to make an easy and healthy snowman cheese ball!
