Below I have listed common homeopathic remedies for hypothyroidism and the symptoms that may indicate that remedy is needed.

You don’t have to have all symptoms, but if you read the description and feel like it is a close match then it is a remedy to consider.

Iodum

Consider this remedy if you have a large appetite (and possibly thirst) even if you are losing weight. Also, if you notice that you sweat when putting forth the slightest effort.

If you deal with anxiety, depression, vertigo, feel better after eating, feel really weak during your period, and feel worse in a hot room but better in cool air or walking around, Iodum could be a helpful remedy for you!

Sepia

Sepia is a great remedy for women, especially with hormonal issues. If you find yourself gaining weight, feeling indifferent or uninterested in your family or work, sad, anxious, or crying easily, think Sepia.

A Sepia person may also notice symptoms like cold feet and hands, lack of sex drive, hair loss, acne, vertigo, or pelvic organ prolapse. If this sounds like you, be sure to check out Sepia and/ or contact a professional homeopath.

Calcarea Carbonica

Calcarea Carbonica (also known as Calc Carb) is known for its use in situations of pituitary or thyroid dysfunction. If you are experiencing weight gain (sometimes loss), a sweaty head, clammy hands and feet, depression, leg or foot cramps, feeling forgetful or worried, sleep disruption, and profuse menstruation, think of Calc Carb!

Thyroidinum

If you often feel irritable, sad, have headaches (especially in the front of your head), have cold hands and feet, aches and pains, eczema or psoriasis, and crave sweets and cold water, Thyroidinum may be an appropriate remedy for you.

Cell Salts For Adrenal Fatigue

You may be wondering what cell salts are and why they are separated from the homeopathic remedies for adrenal fatigue already listed.

In short, cell salts work a little differently in the body than other homeopathic remedies.

A homeopathic remedy invokes the body’s healing response by stimulating the body’s own defenses.

Cell salts, on the other hand, are vital cell foods that actually reinforce, strengthen, and nourish at a cellular level.

Cell salts, which are minerals in homeopathic potencies, work by helping cells in the body to better assimilate and utilize the minerals compounds.

These are low potency, slow-acting, and generally taken 2-4 times each day for a period of weeks.

Cell Salts For Low Thyroid

Calcarea Fluorica

Feeling depressed, sluggish, and cold? Consider adding Calc Fluor.

Calcarea Phosphorica

Dealing with feelings of restlessness, excess weight, forgetfulness, or stiffness and pain that is worse with cold weather? Check out Calc Phos!

Natrium Muriaticum

Do you have an intolerance to sun and heat, strong heart palpitations, feel like your body is trembling, have headaches, a craving for salt, heartburn, a feeling of thirst even after drinking, a feeling of weakness, jerking sensation as you fall asleep, or feel worse in a warm room and better with open-air, give Nat Mur a look.

Homeopathy: A Natural Treatment For Hypothyroidism

Homeopathy is a safe, gentle method of healing that was developed in Germany more than 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnemann.

Homeopathy is based on two theories:

  • “Like cures like”—this is the idea that a disease or illness can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in a healthy person
  • “Law of minimum dose”—this theory states that the lower the dose, the greater the effectiveness of a remedy. Many homeopathic remedies are so very diluted that none of the original substance remains.

Homeopathic remedies are made from natural substances, are extremely safe, affordable, do not have the side effects often associated with prescription medications, and are FDA regulated.

You may be wondering how homeopathy can help with symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Well, in my personal opinion, homeopathy can be very effective when dealing with symptoms of low thyroid as long as the right remedies are chosen.

Why Is Homeopathy A Great Choice For Symptoms Of Low Thyroid?

For some people, homeopathy is the best treatment to start with because if a person is very weak or sensitive even natural herbal remedies can be too stimulating.

Also, homeopathy is a very personalized treatment so each individual and their particular symptoms are taken into consideration when choosing a remedy.

What I mean is, two women may have a diagnosis of hypothyroidism but depending on their symptoms, constitution, and even emotional state, they could require different homeopathic remedies.

Tips For Hypothyroidism Healing & Recovery

If you’re dealing with symptoms of low thyroid the homeopathic remedies listed above are definitely something to try, but they can only assist your body.

You will probably have to make a few lifestyle changes as well.

Here are a few tips that can help get you started on the road to a healthier, happier you!

  1. Seek out a health care practitioner that is knowledgeable about thyroid issues (many are not!)
  2. Be sure to get the right tests! A full thyroid panel is a must!!
  3. Eat to heal- look into food intolerances and consider removing any offending foods
  4. Lower stress (I know, easier said than done, right?!)
  5. Don’t forget to support your adrenals! The thyroid and adrenals work hand-in hand!
  6. Learn to say no and set boundaries- don’t keep going until you exhaust yourself
  7. Start a meditation, prayer, or gratitude practice
  8. Get 7 – 8 hours of sleep and try to go to bed by 10 pm
  9. Keep healthy snacks with protein on hand to stay energized
  10. Drink enough water and include adrenal drinks if sodium and/or potassium levels are low
  11. Take time every day to rest, breathe deep, and check-in with yourself
  12. Disconnect at least 2 hours before bedtime (and don’t take your phone to bed!)

FAQ’s

Have a few questions about hypothyroidism and natural treatment options?

I’m no doctor but I can tell you what’s worked for myself and others I know 🙂

  1. What Is The Best Natural Supplement For Hypothyroidism?

That’s a great question with a not-so-clear answer.

There are many good supplements that can be used to help support the thyroid and give relief from symptoms of hypothyroidism.

It’s essential to have a full thyroid panel of tests done so that you and your health care provider can find the correct natural remedies for your particular situation (adrenal and other tests are helpful as well to help get a clear, well-rounded picture of what’s really going on!).

2. Is There A Permanent Cure For Hypothyroidism?

Yes! In some cases, people are able to recover with the use of a few natural remedies and simple lifestyle changes (although admittedly, simple isn’t always easy!)

Please keep in mind though, everyone is different and this may not be achievable for everyone. Also, full healing can take time and setbacks are not uncommon. That’s why working with a good health practitioner can be very helpful at times.

3. What Foods Are Best For Hypothyroidism?

Just like any other health condition, one of the best things to do for improvement or healing is to eat a healthy, nourishing diet.

That means drastically reducing, or better yet, completely eliminating soda, sugar, refined flour, alcohol, and unhealthy fats.

Foods to include (depending on your specific needs and tolerances) would be grass-fed meat, vegetables, fruit, healthy fats, nuts, eggs, and don’t forget plenty of filtered water!

Last Thoughts About Homeopathic Remedies For Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is a complex condition and an individualized approach to treatment is needed in order to address specific causes, symptoms, and overall health.

That’s one reason homeopathic remedies are a great option to consider for natural treatment. When using homeopathy the whole person is considered and a gentle, yet effective remedy is chosen.

Another bonus to using homeopathic remedies is that they are incredibly affordable!

Who doesn’t like that?!
