Homeopathy: A Natural Treatment For Adrenal Fatigue
Homeopathy is a safe, gentle method of healing that was developed in Germany more than 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnneman.
Homeopathy is based on two theories:
- “Like cures like”—this is the idea that a disease or illness can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in a healthy person
- “Law of minimum dose”—this theory states that the lower the dose, the greater the effectiveness of a remedy. Many homeopathic remedies are so very diluted that none of the original substance remains.
Homeopathic remedies are made from natural substances, extremely safe, affordable, do not have the side effects often associated with prescription medications, and are FDA regulated.
Did you know?
In 1900, there were 100 homeopathic hospitals and 22 homeopathic medical schools in the United States?

You may be wondering how homeopathy can help with symptoms of adrenal fatigue.
Well, in my personal opinion, homeopathy is one of the best (and safest!) treatments for adrenal fatigue.
In fact, for some people it is the best treatment to start with because if a person is very weak or sensitive even natural herbal remedies can be too stimulating.
Also, homeopathy is a very personalized treatment so each individual and their particular symptoms are taken into consideration when choosing a remedy.
What I mean is, two women may have a diagnosis of adrenal fatigue but depending on their symptoms, constitution, and even emotional state, they could require different homeopathic remedies.
By addressing your individual symptoms (which is your body’s way of speaking to you) you are giving your body what it needs which can aid in it’s healing!
Before we get to the best homeopathic remedies for adrenal fatigue, I just want to mention that you can definitely use the remedies below that most closely matches your symptoms, but if you have a complicated case or have tried a few but not found the relief you were hoping for, it is a good idea to seek out a professional homeopath that can help.

Homeopathic Remedies For Adrenal Fatigue
Below I have listed common homeopathic remedies for adrenal fatigue and the symptoms that may indicate that remedy is needed. You don’t have to have all symptoms, but if you read the description and feel like it is a close match then it is a remedy to consider.
A feeling of weakness or trembling. This could be constant or come and go. There is often feelings of anticipation, apprehension, fear, or anxiety. The person may feel like there is nothing that can help them. There may also be a craving for sugar, often gas and belching are experienced as well.
Most who need this remedy cannot tolerate heat but often feel better in cool air.
This remedy is often chosen if the person is experiencing nervous exhaustion or are overwhelmed mentally or physically. Mental symptoms are often seen first but physical symptoms may follow. The person may seem apathetic, cannot put thoughts together easily, or have trouble comprehending. Feelings of grief and despair may be experienced also.
It is common for people fitting this remedy to have headaches, irregular pulse, and sweat more than normal (especially in the morning or at night). There may also be loss of hair and vision changes.
Gelsemium people will present with slow pulse, fatigue and often feel uninterested. There may be muscle weakness, sleepiness, and even dizziness. These people are often sensitive to cold and damp weather. They may be slow, feel dull and detached or disinterested in their situation. They often want to be left alone because excitement (even the good kind of excitement) can take a toll and make them feel worse physically.
A woman that needs Sepia will feel totally burnt out. This is a great remedy to consider for women that feel overwhelmed and exhausted from motherhood and taking care of children. This person is always tired, has too much to do, and is physically and emotionally spent. Especially helpful after childbirth or when caring for small children or a sick loved one. This person often feels like they have no time for themselves (and they probably don’t!).
Sexual desire is often reduced or nonexistent and menstrual and hormonal issues such as backache, PMS, mood swings, cramps, and irritability are very common. If a woman seems to feel indifferent to loved ones, dreams of leaving her family and going away (even if she doesn’t actually follow through) consider this remedy.
Nux Vomica can be very helpful for people who start the day slow and sluggish with low cortisol levels in the morning but are wide awake at night. Having this sort of energy schedule makes it hard to go to bed early, which is recommended for treatment of adrenal fatigue. This remedy has been used to help bring down cortisol at night to allow the person fall asleep at an earlier hour.
Other signs a person may need this remedy are that they may feel overwhelmed, have an overactive mind, be quite irritable, angry, and impatient. This person often works hard and plays hard. There are often cravings for spicy and fatty foods. And they generally feel better from a nap but feel worse in the morning and in cold air.
Phosphorus may be an appropriate remedy when a person is oversensitive to things around them. They will often complain of fatigue and dizziness (especially after rising). Short naps, along with cold food or drinks may help them to feel better but they often feel worse from physical or mental exertion.
Arsenicum Album is a good remedy to consider when a person is feeling exhausted but restless and anxious. This person may have a nervous constitution, have a fear of death and disease, and feel thirsty often. People who may need this remedy typically feel worse after midnight and from exertion but often feel better with heat, warm foods, and warm drinks.
Other Homeopathic Remedies To Consider
These remedies may not have made the list for the best homeopathic remedies for adrenal fatigue but they can definitely help with some symptoms and deserve an honorable mention!
- Arnica Montana– often thought of for bumps, bruises, aches, and pains (and very effective for those) but if using Arnica for adrenal fatigue it can also be helpful after mental strain or shock, or if the person’s whole body feels sensitive.
- Coffea Cruda– great for nervous agitation, restlessness, intolerance of pain, often with despair. Often the mind races and there is great excitability. The person may be able to get to sleep but often wakes or feels that they haven’t really slept at all.
- Ignatia Amara– if excessive stress or adrenal fatigue was caused by grief, this would be a good remedy to consider. The person may feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed. Changeable mood is often seen but they may also be introspective or seem like they are melancholic, sad, or tearful.
Cell Salts For Adrenal Fatigue
You may be wondering what cell salts are and why they are separated from the homeopathic remedies for adrenal fatigue already listed.
In short, cell salts work a little differently in the body than other homeopathic remedies. A homeopathic remedy invokes the body’s healing response by stimulating the body’s own defenses.
Cell salts on the other hand are a vital cell foods that actually reinforce, strengthen and nourish at a cellular level.
Cell salts, which are minerals in homeopathic potencies, work by helping cells in the body to better assimilate and utilize the minerals compounds. These are low potency, slow acting, and generally taken a 2-4 times each day for a period of weeks.

Have a few questions about adrenal fatigue and natural treatment options?
I’m no doctor but I can tell you what’s worked for myself and others I know 🙂
1.How is adrenal fatigue diagnosed?
That’s a great question with a not so clear answer. See, many endocrinologists (and other medical professionals) don’t actually recognize adrenal fatigue as a condition. And it is true that many people don’t actually have fatigued adrenal glands, so the name is somewhat misleading, but the symptoms are quite real!
As far as coming up with a diagnosis for this group of symptoms from excessive or chronic stress (AKA adrenal fatigue), there are a few tests you (or your health care professional) can consider:
- A careful review of symptoms
- HTMA test
- Saliva test
- Urine test
- Blood test
or you can even start with a few easy at-home tests if you’d like 😉

2.Can you heal adrenal fatigue naturally?
Yes! In most cases people are able to recover with the use of a few natural remedies, rest, and simple lifestyle changes (although admittedly, simple isn’t always easy!)
Please keep in mind though, full healing can take time and set backs are not uncommon. That’s why working with a good health practitioner can be very helpful at times.
3. What is the best treatment for adrenal fatigue?
Just like any other health condition, the best treatment is one that feels right to you, addresses the root cause of your symptoms, and ideally is the most gentle but effective.
Since adrenal fatigue is essentially a condition caused by chronic or excessive stress, the cause will be different for each person, and so will the treatment.
Getting enough rest, homeopathic remedies, herbs, stress-relieving practices, addressing hormone and mineral imbalances, and taking time to make necessary lifestyle changes can all be very helpful.
