Gluten-Free Apple Pie That Tastes Good?
Ok, I know that not all gluten-free foods taste good.
In fact, some are just plain nasty. It’s not uncommon for some gluten-free foods to have a weird taste or a grainy texture.
But have no fear, this recipe will not leave you with a weird-tasting pie.
This is actually a homemade apple pie recipe from my grandma that I changed a little to make it gluten-free with no refined sugar.

How To Make Apple Pie That’s Just Like Grandma Used To Make
A few ingredients are all you need to have an apple pie that is just like grandma used to make (only healthier)!
What You’ll Need:
Crust Ingredients
- 2 cups gluten-free flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup ice water
Filling Ingredients
What To Do:
First, preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Next, mix the flour and salt together in a bowl.
Then add small pieces of cold butter to the flour and salt mixture. Mix the butter in with your hands until the butter pieces are smaller than pea size
Add ice-cold water by the tablespoon while mixing with a fork. Mix until a ball begins to form.
Divide the dough into two balls and roll out (putting them between wax paper can really help here!)
Peel off the wax paper and lay one of the crusts onto a pie pan
Set aside second crust for now
Peel and cut apples into slices
In a bowl mix together the honey, cinnamon, and salt
Add the mixture to the apple slices and make sure all are coated well
Pour apples into the pie pan making sure to have more in the center
Slice the 2 Tbsp. of butter and put slices on top of the apples, making sure to spread them somewhat evenly
Next, take your top crust and put it over the pie
Pinch the edges of the top and bottom crust together and trim any excess, be sure to cut slits in the top for ventilation
If you choose, you could use a cookie cutter to make shapes and place them on top or cut strips to make a lattice top, instead of a solid crust
Mix one egg yolk and one Tbsp of water and brush on the top crust, this makes it a nice golden brown
Bake the pie for 45 minutes or until the apples are tender
Let the pie cool some before serving
