So, when you look at the table of contents, right away you will notice that Dr. Romm has structured The Adrenal Thyroid Revolution to include two parts.
Part 1: The Roots Of SOS
Part 1 is where Dr. Romm lays the foundation and explains:
- Why your body is stressed and that symptoms are actually signals
- Possible root causes of thyroid and adrenal issues
- How to find your personal root causes
Now, as much as you may be tempted to skip to the second part (where solutions are discussed) and find ways to just start feeling better (I know, I’ve been there!), having a real understanding of what is happening in your body, and more importantly why it is happening, is essential to healing- so don’t skip the first part!
Part 2: The SOS Solution
Part 2 is where you can really start to dig in, take action, and make changes to begin the healing process!

Thoughts About The Adrenal Thyroid Review
So, now you have an idea of what The Adrenal Thyroid Revolution is all about, but let me share some of the things that really stood out to me when I read it and a few takeaways that I think are really important 😉
1. You Are Not Crazy
This is a big one!
So many women are being seen and not heard!
We go to the doctor with complaints that may seem unrelated and instead of being taken seriously, we are offered antidepressants, told to eat less and exercise more (this one especially burns me!!), and that we should just take a vacation.
Dr. Romm mentioned at the beginning of the book that somewhere around 80% of the women that she saw in her practice were dealing with some form of fatigue or exhaustion in addition to a number of other symptoms that can affect everyday life.
That means that you, dear friend, are not crazy! You’re not alone! And you are not imagining or exaggerating your symptoms or just looking for attention! (Yes, many women have actually been told those very words…)
It means that you are one of the many, many number of women that have an imbalance and the symptoms are your body’s way of trying to talk to you.
So ditch the doubters, get quiet, start to listen to your body, and believe that you can heal!
2. Women Are Overwhelmed
If Dr. Romm was seeing 80% of the women in her practice complaining of fatigue, I’m positive other doctors (that are actually listening to their patients) are seeing this as well.
This is a real problem that needs attention!
Women are overwhelmed and exhausting themselves, and while there are many possible reasons, we as a community need to take this seriously.
There is nothing good that can come from mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, spouses, and loved ones that are overworked, overwhelmed, stressed, and burnt out!
The solution I propose is simple: Let’s put the time and energy into healing ourselves (because it IS NOT selfish, no matter what you have been told or thought in the past 😉 ), and then help others on their healing journey.
3. Doctors May Not Be Helpful
Ok, I know how that sounds.
I’m not against doctors in any way, I think that they have an enormously important job on this Earth and I literally thank God for some of the amazing physicians and health care providers that are out there!
Just like in any profession, there are great doctors and not-so-great doctors.
And, unfortunately, too many of us have come across the not-so-great ones.
But, as I have mentioned in other blog posts, if your health care provider isn’t giving you the help you need (either because they don’t have the knowledge or because they don’t believe you and refuse to do what you ask/suggest), you are absolutely free to find someone that is a better fit!
4. Everything Is Connected
A lot of times we forget that our mind and body are inextricably connected.
We may think we have a “bad knee” or we might go to the doctor with complaints of insomnia, an ulcer, symptoms of an autoimmune disease, or any other condition, and often times we will be offered some sort of scan, test, or pill.
And, it’s not that these therapies are necessarily bad, it’s just that many times conventional medicine neglects to include the mental aspect in diagnosing and treating the physical symptoms.
If you believe your knee is bad, then it could be very difficult to have complete healing occur.
If you go to the doctor with complaints of insomnia, they may ask if you are dealing with stress (although that is really dependent on the doctor) but more than likely you will be offered a pill and told to lessen your stress.
But how do you do that, and what does that mean exactly?
This is where the mental and emotional aspect comes in.
The body achieves what the mind believes, so if you believe you are sick, will never heal, have a bad knee, deserve what you are going through, that there is nothing you can do, or any other negative or unhelpful thoughts- that is exactly what will happen!
But, you can change your thoughts and change your life.
I know it sounds cliche, but it’s 100% true!

5. You Can Heal!
No matter what health issue you are facing, this is one of the most powerful thoughts and beliefs that you can adopt!
And I think that Dr. Romm does a great job throughout The Adrenal Thyroid Revolution of supporting the idea that healing is absolutely possible.
From the very beginning of the book where she demonstrates that she actually sees and hears the women that come to her for help to the end where she gives a plan for how to continue to live a healthy, balanced life and everywhere in between- Dr. Aviva Romm sprinkles seeds of hope and recovery in the information she provides.
So, begin telling yourself that you can heal and believe no less because your mental and physical health depends on it!
A Few Last Thoughts About The Adrenal Thyroid Revolution
This is the first book I read when I started on my journal to adrenal fatigue recovery, and while I have read many great books about adrenal fatigue, thyroid issues, and women’s health in general since this one, it is one that I read repeatedly in the beginning and still reference to this day.
If you’re experiencing symptoms that seem to have no cause or connection, have been told by doctors that your tests are fine and “in the normal range”, but you don’t feel fine- run, don’t walk, and get this book!
Chances are not everything will resonate or be a perfect fit because we all have different needs and are in different places in our health journey, but I am certain that after reading The Adrenal Thyroid Revolution you will have a better idea of how to take the next step to better health.
